The Engineering Golfing Society has fixtures at which we socialise, and compete for a range of historic trophies five times a year. They are a two day meeting in the spring at Hunstanton; a one day in the summer at North Hants; a two day Northern meeting in July at Wallasey and Hawkstone Park, following a match against Caldy; and, at Woking, two single day meetings in the Autumn and just before Christmas.

We mainly play singles competitions but also have some foursomes. Members participate in two divisions – first (handicap index 0-14.9) and second (handicap index 15.0 upwards). Members consider the social aspects to be as important as the competitions, and a dinner is held during the evening of the two day Hunstanton and the Northern meetings. Similarly, our Annual General Meeting held at the start of the golfing season normally involves a quick resolution of the officer’s elections, a convivial lunch followed by nine holes of golf.
